Thistle are hoping to sign some of the impressive young aces who starred as trialists in Monday evening's 3-0 win over Winton.
Largs face Greenock Morton XI on Friday evening, 7.15pm kick-off, and it is another chance for the Barrfields side to shine after quickly getting into their stride in their first pre-season friendly of the season.
With the league cup underway next weekend, and Largs having as many as six Premier League matches by the end of August, it is important to make a good start.
Bolstering the squad is currently the main aim of the Thistle management team of Stuart Davidson, Martin Crawford and Andy Scott.
Boss Davidson said: "Some of the new players did really well on Monday, and fitted in to our style of play, and that was pleasing.
"Some have offers from elsewhere, and it can be a frustrating time of the season as everyone wants the same players, but after speaking to them on Monday evening, some of them seem pretty keen.
"In an ideal world, as soon as the season finishes, you sign up the squad you had before, and then start adding new players, and you want to make sure the standard that exists already is carried on and maintained for the start of the new season.
"I am confident that we already have the nucleus of a squad that is capable of doing that and competing well in the Premier Division."
However, it would appear that Largs will be losing two influential players next season in silky winger Alex McWaters, who has been linked with a move to Hurlford United, and wing-back and long throw specialist Iain Fisher. McWaters recently trained at East Fife.
Davidson said: "As far as I know, we made Alex and offer and he did not want to sign it and that is it finished with. Alex did great for us last season, and good luck to him.
"I understand that Iain wants to take a break from football - he is a good player and he has done well for us during the past two seasons. It is his own personal choice, and we have got to respect his wishes. It is not something I would personally have done at that age, but it is up to him."
Reflecting on the Winton Rovers win, Davidson said: "As much as we are praising the trialists, it was a good performance from all our regulars, and they were all good goals which we scored.
"The players showed their fitness and played at a high tempo, and although it is still early days, there were plenty of positive signs."
With the league season now just over two weeks away from getting underway, the gaffer said he was confident that Largs would have more signings by the time of the big kick-off against Auchinleck Talbot on 4 August.
"I feel that we have raised the standard of play over the last season," said Davidson, "and we want to get better. We want to sign players who are good for this team and will make the team better."
Thistle's last friendly is against Port Glasgow on Tuesday 24 July.
The season begins on earnest on Saturday 28 July away at Ardeer Thistle, 2pm kick-off, followed by Saltcoats (H) on Monday 30 July, and Kilwinning Rangers (A) on Wednesday 1 August in the league cup opening section.
Davidson said: "We look forward to playing against Morton - these teams tend to be well organised and good technically.
"They have young boys and they are fit, and it is always a good work-out."
"The games are going to hit us thick and fast but we will be well prepared."
Largs have re-signed the following players for next season: Blair Cousar , Martin Orr, Laurie McMaster , Creag Little, Nicky Jamieson, Alan Gilbride ,Gary Fleming , Graham Muir, Jamie Campbell , Ryan McKie , John Carter, Kevin Struthers and Scott Adam. More signings are to be announced in the next few weeks.
