Kilwinning Rangers 3 Largs Thistle 2

A late fightback from Largs resulted in an exciting finish to this league cup tie but it was Kilwinning who finished top of the group at rainswept Abbey Park on Wednesday evening.
Thistle looked out for the count on Wednesday evening after going three goals down in this contest but a quick fire double from Kevin Struthers gave Largs renewed hope.
In the early stages, new Largs signing Paul Harkins spied Coleman off his line and floated in a long shot which just skimmed the top of the crossbar.
A penalty was awarded to Buffs on 28 minutes for a Nicky Jamieson challenge.
Largs keeper Sean Graham did well to deny Maitland with an excellent save but the Buffs penalty taker blasted home the rebound.
The hosts took a stranglehold on this game early in the second half as Ben Lewis's fast paced cross from the left was fired home by Nisbet as he bulldozed through the Thistle defence at the far post on 46 minutes.
And new Kilwinning signing Mark McKenzie made it 3-0 on 51 minutes with a high quality finish after a good run.
A fast paced cross into the box from the right resulted in a Largs trialist being floored by a push in the penalty box and Struthers converted the spot kick with aplomb on 66 minutes.
And two minutes later, confident Struthers hit a sweet shot from 20 yards out which evaded Coleman and finished in the bottom left corner of the net to reduce the deficit to one.
It sparked an exciting finish as Largs looked for an equaliser to take the match to penalties but it was not to be.
