Thirty five years after making my debut for Largs Thistle against Irvine Meadow I am at it again.
I was asked to play for the Largs Over 35s team v Valley Vets at Beith last week.
So after ten seasons as a player three seasons in management I am now into my 14th season with the Thistle.
I am really surprised though that no one asked for proof of age from me at the 35’s game.
This is the teams first season in the Ayrshire over 35s league with the games being played over the summer months on a Friday night.
Hopefully it all goes well and it is a successful season.
Please turn out and support the team - there are a lot of local lads playing and it should be a lot of fun.
Keep an eye on the Largs Thistle website www.largsthistle.org for fixtures, and look out for a special feature on the team in next week's Largs and Millport Weekly News.
* Is anyone capable of stopping Celtic? You would expect them to beat Hearts in the Scottish Cup final. Does that mean they keep Neil Lennon as manager?
Is appointing Lennon a step backward after getting the marquee manager of Brendan Rodgers . It will be interesting to see how they go.
* The relegation race in the Championship is fascinating. With only four points separating the bottom five teams after the weekend results, it is 'squeaky bum time' as Sir Alex Ferguson might say.
There will be a few twists and turns to come ... it is a massive game for Greenock Morton this Saturday as they head through to Falkirk.
With Partick Thistle and Queen of the South also in the mix, it is going to be a fascinating final few weeks with the bottom club going down, and second bottom club facing the relegation play-offs.
* We are all looking forward to the Scottish Cup final weekend on Sunday 2 June but it is going to be a very busy weekend for me.
It is the same weekend as the international veterans tournament at Inverclyde Sports Centre at Largs which I am playing in with Stephen Quigg.
It will be a fast taxi for us to Hamilton if it is a 4.05pm kick-off!
