Largs Thistle Over 35s 12 Kilwinning Abbey 1

The Thistle veterans are no mood to take their foot off the pedal as they hit an impressive double figures last Friday evening at Inverclyde Sports Centre.

From the first whistle Largs were too overpowering for the Kilwinning team with James Tyler causing chaos down the right side setting up six and scoring one of the nine goals scored in the first half.

At 3-0 Kilwinning had the cheek to score in their first attack this only made Largs up the pace scoring a further six goals in the first half. 9-1 at half time and Largs relaxed with the second half more of a training session.

A further three goals scored with no reply.

It was a great victory for Largs.

The goalscorers were McGowan, Reid x4, Alexander, Graham, Tyler, Kelly, Giovino x2 and Martin,

And Thistle are flying high in the over 35s league and are currently sitting in second spot behind Shortlees.

It is the first year that the over 35s team has launched in Largs and includes some former Largs Thistle players such as Stephen Quigg and even 60 year old George Wall, who was even labelled a veteran in the 1994 Scottish Junior Cup semi final programme... but is still playing!

Other ex-seniors to have turned out for the over 35s including Grant Cockerill who played for Thistle in 1999 and Tyler who is formerly Irvine Meadow but also played for Thistle Amateurs.
