Largs Thistle 3 Benburb 2

A 73rd minute winner from Scott Adam was just enough to separate the sides in a rollercoaster ride of an encounter .

Thistle overcame Benburb in a five goal thriller at Barrfields on Wednesday evening to secure their first league win of the new campaign.

Two goals from two new signings including Blair McIntyre, and Ross Love (see clip above), and a winner from Adam made the difference in a see-saw encounter as it was drama all the way.

Largs got off to a flyer on eight minutes with a McIntyre volley from the edge of the area but Benburb levelled on 28 minutes and had further opportunities to go ahead including rattling the post.

It was no surprise when the visitors moved ahead on the stroke of half-time after a Willie McLaren strike to silence Barrfields.

Thistle equalised on 48 minutes as new signing Ross Love headed home.

Largs rallied and it was Scott Adam who stuck a boot out to divert the ball past visiting keeper Ross Connelly in a goalmouth scramble on 73 minutes. See clip below.

Sub Will Sewell was terribly unlucky to see his flying header from a corner kick being cleared off the line to deny him his first Premier league goal, and Benburb had some late opportunities with Lundy required to make a top save to help earn Thistle an important three points to kick off the season.

This was a breathless affair at times and credit to Largs manager Stuart Davidson who made changes at half-time which turned this game around.
