Beith 4 Largs Thistle 2

Largs came close to performing an extraordinary comeback before bowing out of the West League Regional Cup on Monday night.
Thistle were 3-0 down after 55 minutes in the second round tie against a seemingly rampant Beith side who created a barrel load of opportunities.
But a quick fire double from Scott Adam gave Largs renewed hope before Beith clinched victory with a killer fourth goal at the death.

It was a fairly even start to this match.
Beith were starting to turn the screw and won several corners. A Ross Lundy parry from one such set piece was retrieved by Frize who darted to the byeline and pulled back for Darren Christie who fired into the roof of the net on 33 minutes. See goal below

Milliken was in good space on the left hand side to poke a half volley past the outrushing Lundy on 53 minutes to make it 2-0.
The ball was like a pinball in the Largs box on 55 minutes as Lundy blocked one effort with his feet but Frize made no mistake from the rebound for no.3
Largs reduced the deficit on 67 minutes as Adam ran on to a through ball on the right and guided the ball into the bottom right hand corner.
Adam controlled on his chest before firing home on 85 minutes for a grandstand finish but it was Beith who blew a big sigh of the relief as Ross McKenzie fired home a 92nd minute clincher.

Beith's reward is a visit to Renfrew on Wednesday evening in the quarter finals, while Largs must prepare for Saturday's home league match with Hurlford.
