Largs Thistle 1 Pollok 2

Thistle suffered their first home defeat of the season despite some late chances to salvage a point.

There was a minute's silence before the game, as was the case in all junior games around the West, in memory of former Ayrshire Region & West Association Secretary Matt Spiers.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

Pollok had more of the pressing in the first half and the pressure paid off when the visitors won a spot kick after Largs keeper Ross Lundy clattered into Lok forward Adam Forde on 21 minutes, and was booked.

Fraser converted from the spot to make it 1-0 to the Glasgow side - see above clip.

Ben Black was quick to react to a long ball down the right as he cleverly weaved his way past defender and keeper to slot into an empty net from an acute angle on the right hand side on 49 minutes.

Parity did not last long however as Fraser regained the lead for Pollok on 56 minutes with a turn and shot from the right edge of the area which whistled into the bottom left corner of the net.

Fraser came close to his hat-trick as he picked up a defence splitting pass but fired a piledriver wide of the right post with the goal gaping.

Thistle created some late chances with Laurie McMaster forcing a high quality save from visiting keeper Lumsden, and on 88 minutes sub Jamie McKenna burst into the box but agonisingly slid his effort just past the left post.

Largs manager Stuart Davidson wanted no hard luck stories after the 90 minutes was up, and said he felt that his side didn't perform well enough in the first half and were lucky to be going into the interval at 1-0, and need to do better.
