What has 50 legs and is over 3000 years old?
The answer is the guys who take part in the weekly Wednesday session of Walking Football at Inverclyde Sports Centre last week.
Despite holidays and 'injuries' there were 25 players at a recent session, prompting SFA coach Craig Hamilton to not only select four teams of six, plus a substitute, but to participate in a couple of the 20 minute round-robin games in the splendid Weir indoor astroturf centre.
Once again, former Scotland and Celtic star Andy Lynch featured in the goalscoring with three for the Yellow Vests, aided and abetted by Angus Bowes (2). However, another hat-trick hero was Ian Taylor for the Navy Side with ex-Largs Thistle man Kenny Lynn and team captain Gerry Begley grabbing one apiece.
Newcomer Chris McClenaghan scored on his debut for the Reds with coach Craig Hamilton netting and Gordon 'Elvis' Presley notching a double with his thunderbolt shots but it didn't prevent them finishing bottom of the table. The usual cry of "who picked the teams" was overheard.
