A second half double from the returning Will Sewell helped ease a youthful Largs to a comfortable victory over Muirkirk in Saturday's friendly at Inverclyde Sports Centre.

Thistle opened the scoring in the first half thanks to a sparkling strike from midfielder Simon McBryde from 25 yards out. His curling effort swerved away from the keeper into the top corner of the net. Scott Adam had a goal chopped off despite furious protests from Largs players.

The second goal saw Sewell finish off a top quality move in the second half before the young striker scored a high quality third to kill off the game, winning a challenge near the touchline before cutting inside and dodging two challenges before slipping the ball into the back of the net.

Kane O'Neill rounded off the scoring after an assist from the roving Ben Black on the left.

Largs had further chances to score and credit to Muirkirk who made it a very competitive first half and forced Largs keeper Jamie McGowan into a good save but Thistle proved too strong in the end as the visitors had to withstand waves of attack.

Thistle also brought on a number of U19 subsitutes as an even younger Largs side held out as worthy winners.

LARGS: McGowan, Eardley, G Sewell, Hynes, Love, Faulds, O'Neill, MacIntyre, Adam, McBryde, Black. Subs: Forbes, McMaster, W Sewell, Jack Louden, Craig Louden, Florence, Lundy.
