Largs Thistle have confirmed that they will be playing league football starting on October 24 in the new West of Scotland League.

A total of 59 out of 67 clubs have confirmed entry.

Five Premiership clubs - Auchinleck Talbot, Cumnock Juniors, Glenafton Athletic, Kilbirnie Ladeside, and Pollok- will not be playing this season.

Largs Thistle President David Blackwood explained that the club committee took a vote on the move and decided to go ahead, with the number one priority of keeping everyone safe.

He admitted it would be difficult financially going forward without crowds, and hoped that supporters would be allowed to return as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Largs are playing a number of closed door pre-season friendlies in preparation for the new season, and recorded a 2-0 win against a revamped Irvine Victoria side on Saturday with goals from Craig Forbes and Scott Adam (penalty).

Thistle are also participating in the The Soccer Shop Challenge Cup and host Dalbeattie Star in the 2nd round on November 21 after receiving a 1st round bye.

As yet, Largs have not been assigned a fixture on October 24 as they had been due to play Aucinleck Talbot.
