Largs Thistle legend George Wall's column

Whoever was involved in Largs Thistle negotiation last Saturday's game to designate the Blantyre game to be an away game did very well.

Get them involved in the Brexit negotiations, that's what I say!

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

That was a great switch and Largs put in a great performance to secure the 3-1 victory.
Watching the highlights, Largs looked the better team throughout and it looked an improved display.
Largs looked short of players a few weeks ago - it now seems a stronger pool of players with a good bench, and there is no reason why Largs can't go into the Beith game fully confident.
The reports coming out of the 0-0 match between Beith and Irvine Meadow on Saturday was that Meadow should have had the game tied up in the opening half hour - but it is all about scoring.
They are always hard games against Beith but Largs will be on fire after Saturday's result - Addy's confidence must be through the roof right now.
In his online interview after the match, he said tongue in cheek that someone else needs to start scoring to take the strain off of him and maybe so.
Largs went close with Will Sewell and Ben Black.
In the Soccer Shop South of Scotland 3rd round, Largs have a home tie against Jeanfield Swifts who are unbeaten in the East of Scotland league, sitting in second spot, one place above Linlithgow Rose.
It is a very positive draw - and although Jeanfield are doing well it is always good to get a home draw. It should be a cracker on February 6.
Both sides played each other in a friendly four years ago but there will have been a lot of changes to personnel since then, maybe except Arnie himself.
Rangers are continuing their stunning form with a 2-1 win at Dundee United.
To think that they are now unbeaten at 27 games is some feat - the free kick from Tavernier was something special from 30 yards out but should Alfredo Morelos have been sent off? I think so.
Dundee United matched Rangers for their intensity at times and scored a good goal to draw level before Tavernier set up Goldson for the 2nd goal. Credit to Dundee United though as they continued to rebuff Rangers in the second half. Antwerp in the Europa Cup is a good draw for the Ibrox side and they will have high hopes of progressing deeper into the draw.
Celtic are back to winning ways after beating Lille in a dead rubber and followed that up with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.
The Betfred League Cup final is interesting - as Hearts are coming into it in good form after beating Morton and overwhelming Queen of the South.
I am tipping a shock - and Hearts to win it.
It is a bit of a dilemma for manager Neil Lennon whether he should stick with the squad of the last two games or bring back some of his experienced players.
I think it should be a good game and feisty as well as Celtic bid for the quadruple treble.
* Great to see my mate Chris Millar getting a win in his role as part of the Interim Management Team at Morton, he has a hard job in front of him. No matter how it turns out I know Chris will give it everything he has and tell the players to go enjoy the game and express themselves. Good Luck Chris and Morton.
