Largs Thistle 2 Beith 2

It was an explosive finish at Barrfields Park as sub Ben Black salvaged a point for Largs Thistle against Beith before dramatic ordering offs.

The game was a pre-Christmas cracker in the PDM Buildbase West of Scotland Premier League as Largs shaped up against their old foes Beith with Keir Milliken now in the gold and black of Thistle facing up to his former side.

There was a late change to the side with Stuart Faulds injured in the warm-up with Craig Forbes taking his place.

And it was Largs who opened positively, taking the lead on ten minutes as Haggerty's strike was deflected into the net for an own goal. The goal came from some good build-up play as Adam got in front of his man to supply Milliken who threaded the ball to Haggerty on the left wing.

Thistle were seemingly comfortable but the away side pulled level with a stunning equaliser after Del Hepburn wrapped his foot around a curling effort which sailed into the top right hand corner of the net from the left wing on 38 minutes.

The goal fair took the wind out of Thistle's sails and Beith went close again with a free kick which curled round the left post.

And on 56 minutes, Beith were rewarded for their good start to the second half as Watt's initial shot was blocked but Frize's follow-up made it 2-1.

Black levelled the scores as he drilled home from Scott Adam's lay off at the edge of the area on 83 minutes.

A minute later and both sides were reduced to ten men as Beith had a substitute red carded while Blair McIntyre was also sent off.

There were further challenges leading to more angry exchanges between the players. A late George Sewell throw in the box was cleared in the final minute as the referee blew for full time.

On the balance of play, a draw was probably a fair result.

Other than the goals, there were not many chances created by either side, but Largs will be disappointed not to capitalise on their early lead and were seemingly comfortable with Beith unable to break them down until that wonder strike changed matters.

Beith then had their tails up but Largs showed much needed character to drag their way their way back into the contest.
