Largs Thistle 8 Galston 1
Thistle get off to a flying start in the Over-35s league last Friday night at Inverclyde Sports Centre.
Derek Rodger opened the scoring on 17 minutes and the floodgates then opened as Thistle's organisation and fitness shone through.
Manager David Mitchell said: "We had a strong team - it started off quite even in the opening ten minutes but our squad fitness overpowered them and we scored some good goals and played some good football - and we made a lot of substitutions so we could keep everything fresh."
"The goals which stood out included Grant Cockerill and James Tyler both scored thunderbolts from outside the box, Derek Rodger with a twinkle toes effort around the keeper and then Stephen Quigg rolled back the years with a great header."
And 62 year old George Wall played in the four man defence which was solid throughout the match with Galston only managing a consolation at 5-0 down.
David added: "All in all, it was a great performance."
Largs are next back in action at Inverclyde Sports Centre on Friday June 4 versus Glenburn.
