Darvel 1 Largs Thistle 2

Largs Thistle showed great belief and determination to topple the league leaders in a disciplined display at Recreation Park last Wednesday.

It was a deadly double by striker Scott Lewis who scored in each half to down big spenders Darvel.
Thistle started in positive fashion and opened the scoring on 15 minutes.
A high ball up the park found Lewis who flicked the ball over a defender and showed great pace and composure to lob the Darvel keeper for a fantastic finish.
The hosts struck the bar and forced keeper Jamie Walker into a great save but other than that Thistle were good value for their lead at half-time after their hard working showing.
But the league champions managed to get a leveller after the break and it was another lobbed goal.
On 71 minutes, Darvel sub Lewis Morrison equalised with the chip.
Thistle brought on their own subs Sean McLeod and David Ramsay as both teams were pushing for a winner
And with two minutes of regulation time left, Lewis showed his skill again after good work from McLeod who had been on a rampaging run down the right.
The ball broke to Lewis who turned his defender and finished in style.

Delighted Thistle boss Stuart Davidson said: "People say is it great to beat the league leaders and it gives you extra confidence and belief but our main aim is always to get moving up that table.
"Darvel is a very hard place to go and they are quality team and it is big credit to the players.
"But every game is hard in this league and we need to keep giving everything."
"It was good to see Scott Lewis on the scoresheet - he has had a frustrating start to the season, and with the suspension kicking in early doors he has had to bide his time and took his goals brilliantly."
Davidson also revealed he felt that Thistle had more opportunity to extend their lead in the first half.
He said: "I was a wee bit annoyed at half-time as the boys were 1-0 up and yes, we are playing against the champions, but I told the players to get that out of their head, and it doesn't matter who you are playing. I think we had been overthinking it on how we were going about our business."
However, Davidson was pleased with how the players reacted to the equaliser and pushed on for the victory.
He said: "We could have looked back to last season when Darvel equalised and they went on to win the match but instead we rolled our sleeves up and pushed on to win the game.
"I was pleased with the players as it was a full game tempo and we showed the right attitude and aggression throughout the 90 minutes and to score another late goal shows that we are a fit bunch and we want to keep going right to the final whistle."
"Darvel manager Michael Kennedy said that in football 9/10 you get what you deserve - and he said on this occasion it would have been unfair on Thistle to only get a draw - and that was very honest of him.

"Darvel are a quality side and we had to stand up to them at times and stood up to the challenge well."
