Largs Thistle star George Sewell has left Barrfields after two and a half years with the club.

An announcement was just made by Thistle within the past hour.

It has been confirmed that George has signed for Premiership rivals Cumnock - and could come up against Largs later this month in a league match.

George has scored a number of memorable goals for Largs including the below strike against Rob Roy which helped Largs secure tenth spot in the Premier League last season.

A Cumnock FC spokesperson said: "We are delighted go announce the signing of George Sewell from Largs.

"George joins on a two and half year deal and goes straight into the squad for tomorrows match v Irvine Meadow.

"We would like to thank all at Largs for their professionalism during this transfer."

George has played in defence and midfield, and also weighed in with a number of crucial goals including this cracker against Beith.

A Largs Thistle statement read: "The club can announce the departure of George Sewell. A local boy and Largs supporter, George came through the ranks at Thistle before signing for the first team in 2019.

"Always passionate, George made a number of contributions to the club, probably most notably a screamer against Beith earlier this season.

"The club thanks George for all his efforts and wish him well for the future."

George made his debut for the club away to Auchinleck in a league match at Beechwood Park and quickly impressed.

His twin brother Will also served Largs well, scoring 41 goals in the Premier Division last season before signing for Stenhousemuir.

Both players made history after the twins appeared on the same scoresheet in an away game at Cumbernauld.
