Largs Thistle 5 Pollok 1

Largs Thistle produced a stunning comeback to floor Pollok with a fantastic five star display.

Thistle opened the match on the frontfoot with Ramsay and Sewell shots going close.

Largs then struck the bar after a curling cross from the effervescent Blair Devine who showed tireless running throughout the afternoon.
Pollok struck the woodwork a moment later before taking the lead on the half hour mark with a long ranger from Daz Christie.

Thistle kept pushing and were rewarded as Stuart Faulds saw the keeper slip as he popped a shot into the net from 25 yards. Scott Adam went close moments after with a turn and shot on the edge of the box.

Adam was a quickest to react to Will Sewell's diagonal through ball from the left as he capitalised on indecision by the Pollok defence to flick the ball beyond the keeper on 54 minutes.
Sewell also smashed the crossbar with another of his speedy runs.

Largs suddenly went all out attack mode and netted thrice in five minutes courtesy of a Sewell goal sandwiched in between shots from David Ramsay.

Thistle saw out the game comfortably and had more efforts on goal with Ramsay denied his hat trick while Jamie McGowan had a relatively peaceful afternoon in the Largs goal but denied the Glasgow side a consolation with a good stop.

This was a terrific way to finish off the season for Largs who beat a good Pollok side who finished above them in the table but be in no doubt there is much more to come from this impressive, hard working and skilful Largs Thistle side.

It may have been an end of season game but it very much felt like a statement of intent for next season.

Full credit to manager Stuart Davidson and his coaching team for a terrific season which was very much characterised by the sudden death of match secretary Derek Scott midway -  and it was very fitting that his photo appeared on the front page of the match programme today along with the Thistle 08s recent cup triumph.
