Everyone is being invited to a special cycling event at the Circuit in Irvine to celebrate the UCI Cycling World Championships coming to Glasgow.

The free family fun day takes place on June 11 from 11am to 3pm – and promises to be a celebration of all things cycling.

There will be a series of different cycling activities including a cycling arcade, mega-bike, e-bike loans, try-a-bike, balance bike sessions, Dr Bike and free bike checks.

There will also be stalls holding competitions and giving out freebies.

Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for place, said: “We are delighted to be one of many venues across Scotland to be hosting an event to promote cycling.

“There are so many benefits to cycling. It is a great sport to watch and participate in and having the World Championships nearby is really exciting and an opportunity to create a legacy.

“Cycling is great way for families to spend quality outdoor time together. It is healthy and great for your wellbeing and the environment.

“We are trying to create a much more sustainable North Ayrshire and cycling will form a key part of that.”

The World Championships are taking place in Glasgow and across Scotland from August 3 to 13.
