Millport Bowling Club recently celebrated their end of year championships - and there was a great turnout on an exciting finals day.

Andy Watson was Gents champion and Betty Robertson was Ladies champion. Both were presented with their trophies by president, Stewart McPhail.

Spokeswoman Christine McCubbin said: "We had a very busy season with visiting clubs, some running their own competitions and having meals we provide and others our annual matches. "This was the first full season since covid though 2022 was busy too.

"The weather was perfect most of the season and only one was cancelled due to rain. "

A total of eight ends of bowls were played then cups and trophies presented. This was followed by pizzas, quiches, cakes.

Thanks were given to Marion Livingstone for the cakes. There were also thank you to Irene Baird and Christine McCubbin for organising the food and the bar staff for their help and assistance on the day.

With a total membership floating around the 70 mark, the future looks bright for the long established club.

Situated in a prominent position just a few hundred yards from the main pier, the Millport Bowling Club offers a friendly welcome to seasoned bowlers and novices alike.

Its greens are kept in excellent condition throughout the season and it plays host to a wide number of visiting clubs for friendly and competitive tournaments.

The club boasts three superb greens, is fully licensed and holds many social events throughout the year. It welcomes new members and day visitors and operates a youth academy for eight years and over.

It also boasts an excellent 18-hole putting course which is open to all ages, providing great fun for the family.
