Largs Thistle’s game in the league this week against Clydebank is a perfect opportunity for the players to show what they are made of and bounce back from recent defeats.

Clydebank are currently sitting top of the league having only lost two league games from their 16 played. Both games lost were to Benburb.

The Largs players should need no motivation. Playing against the league leaders should fire them up. Here’s hoping for three points.

The Scottish Lowland Football League have confirmed that the majority of their members have voted in favour of continuing with B Teams for at least the next two seasons.

Personally I don’t have a problem with that, if they are not taking space in the league that could go to others who are lower in the pyramid.

I believe the Lowland League need to open up to those without a full SFA licence. Beith could win the West of Scotland Football League for the second season in a row and still not be allowed near the Lowland League. Should the team nearest to the winners, if fully licensed, be allowed to participate in the play-offs?

I have said this before, but I do not see the benefits of the pyramid to “junior” teams.

I see Irvine Meadow had concerns with the fixture list that had been published. Their next home game was not planned until March 16 after being scheduled to play nine games in a row away from home. The league actually saw sense and republished the fixture list, but it begs the question: why publish a fixture list in the first place?

With no 'junior' games on that interested me, and Morton away from home, there was no football for me at the weekend.

I did manage to the Rangers v St Johnstone game last Wednesday though, and it’s the first time I have seen a team 1-0 down wasting time. It looked like Craig Levein was playing a 5-5-0 formation. That would get football stopped.

It’s also being reported that the Hibs manager, Nick Montgomery, is to wear a microphone for the derby match against Hearts on Wednesday night. He is a brave man.

My experience of being on the sidelines and being near managers is there are some things said and done that would not be something to be proud of. The passion takes over and the red mist can come down.

It will be great viewing, but I think Montgomery will regret doing it. Also, is this the next progression for VAR - monitoring the dugouts?
