Largs residents are being encouraged to share their favourite footballing memories.

Dementia Friendly Largs (DFL) is sponsoring the new Football Memories events at the town's AD Cameron Centre.

The event will also include free pies, provided by AD Paton Butchers, to get you into the footballing mood.

Laurence Lindsay, who has previously run a Celebrating Memories pop music event in Largs, is looking for people to come along and reminisce with others.

He said: "The event is open to all football fans in the community to relive their footballing memories.

"It is going to be fun and quirky. We will look at the nicknames of players and show clips of old football matches and goals.

"It is very much inspired by Radio Scotland's Off the Ball, with jokes and anecdotes being shared.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

"Whatever football club you support, feel free to come along and give your memories of favourite goals, victories, incidents, jokes and anecdotes.

"And with Scotland having qualified for back-to-back European Championships under Steve Clarke, I am sure there will be plenty of memories of Scotland in the past and matches at Hampden Park.

"I do talks like this around Scotland and it is amazing some of the things you can find out."

Mr Lindsay also urged football fans to bring along any old mementoes from football scarves to programmes and badges to show to others.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

Mr Lindsay said Largs Thistle fans would also be most welcome to chat about memories of great sides over the years, including the triumphant 1994 side.

Robbie Stevenson, chair of DFL, added: "It's hoped that word will spread about events and we can build on numbers attending.

"It is open to all, and we think it will be a great community event to be involved in."

The event promises to have videos, songs, music and laughter.

All are welcome to the free event and refreshments will be provided.

The event is taking place on Friday February 23, running from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The subsequent events will take place on the last Friday of the next three months.
