Largs Thistle legend George Wall writes for the News about football matters local, national and international....

It is thirty years ago today since Largs Thistle win the Scottish Junior Cup at Ibrox with a 1-0 win over Glenafton.

I have been in Benidorm this week with my ex teammates who won the Scottish Cup. There was a lot of storytelling there about that great day at Ibrox.

One story I do remember is about the substitution when I came on for Adam Russell. Adam was not a 'happy camper' after Archie Halley told the bench he was struggling and should take him off instead.  Adam was still taken off.

Hard to believe it was 30 years right enough. I had had a great laugh with the boys that are here, and also video called a few of our teammates who couldn't make it. Amazing also how we are all still friends - it was a great dressing room.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

Largs emerged victorious in their last home game of the season against Auchinleck, and deservedly so. They were really on top the whole game.

It was the same against Rob Roy on Saturday; a 3-0 win was a great way to finish the season.

Player of the year for me would be the goalkeeper, Joe Wilton. A great signing. Let’s see what next season brings - it's about time something was won.

Good luck also to Martin Crawford, a nice guy with lots of football knowledge, after stepping down from his role as assistant boss.

Last week Beith were confirmed league winners, and now we know who is being relegated, Irvine Meadow, Arthurlie and Rob Roy.

Coming up to the top division are Drumchapel, Johnstone Burgh and Shotts.

PSG just can’t get there. No matter how much they spend they still can’t win the Champions League. Does that say it’s not all about the money?

With Mbappe in their team you were expecting some magic that at least got them on level terms with Borussia Dortmund, but they didn't get that - and a French newspaper gave him two out of 10.

In the final Borussia will play Real Madrid, 14 times winners. What a record that is. The Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has seen and done it all; what a record he too has. Does that make him the best manager ever?

A few years ago I was lucky enough to watch Real v Roma in a quarter final tie in the Bernabeu. What a great atmosphere that was, and I'm sure the same will be the case for this year's final at Wembley.

Finally, Largs Thistle's over-35s had a great result at the weekend, beating Auchinleck with doubles from Keir Milliken and Gordy Auld and strikes by Callum Kerr, James Bennett and Andy Boyle.

This Friday night it’s a home game against Northside which is being played at Inverclyde Sports Centre with a 6.30pm kick-off.
