Largs Thistle legend George Wall writes for the News about football matters local, national and international.

The league season is now over in the big leagues.

Celtic in Scotland and Man City in England winning the titles. Both teams deserved it.

Three in a row now for Celtic and four for Man City. Arsenal did make a fight of it in England but in Scotland Rangers just fell away.

The lower divisions are the most competitive with the play off positions giving them more excitement. The Lowland League next session will not change with East Kilbride failing to beat Stranraer.

Raith Rovers face Ross County on Thursday evening in the first of a two-legged affair to see which of these sides will be playing Premiership football next season.

It was a hugely dramatic and entertaining match in Kirkcaldy between Raith and Partick in last Friday's semi-final, finishing 3-3 on aggregate, with Brian Graham's dramatic miss in second half stoppage time which could have put Partick through. Raith held their nerve to win on penalty kicks.

It was great also to see that the Archie Dickie Award was given to Tommy Scouller.

Archie and Tommy are two of the good guys. I played that day Archie died at the ground. What a sad sad day for us all at the club. It was a 4-1 victory against Darvel but no celebrations that day.

* This week we will get the Scotland squad for the Euros. I don’t see any big surprises coming there but you never know , David Watson from Killie maybe?

*Last week I was down in Manchester playing for Northern Ireland 65’s squad in the Super Masters World Cup 5 a side competition. Guess what - I am now a world champion, You can read more about this story in next week's Largs and Millport News.

* While I was away in Manchester, Largs Thistle 35’s , sponsored by Cullis Amusements, were playing at home against Northside. We were well beaten 8-1 with Robi Giovino scoring our only goal. No game this week for the 35’s.
