Largs Thistle's Player of the Year was very much an event for the ages as members of the youth ranks, top scorer Will Sewell, and evergreen Tommy Scouller at the age of 89, all walked away with prizes.

The big community club event was held in the historic surroundings of the St Columba's Parish Church building for the second year running before it closes at the end of June, providing a suitably regal setting.

And with Thistle also celebrating their equal highest finishing in the league, finishing in fifth position in the West of Scotland Premier League, they had every reason to celebrate a unique finish to the season.

Thistle recorded many memorable victories throughout the season with wins against the likes of Clydebank and Auchinleck Talbot in the league, and a memorable away day at Jeanfield Swifts which saw Largs despatch the Perth outfit from the South of Scotland Cup after keeper Joe Wilton saved three crucial penalties in the shoot-out.

In truth, any number of players could have won player of the year as manager Stuart Davidson has very much preached a team ethic amongst his players which has seen the club rise high against all challenges it has encountered, and went on a long unbeaten run which only saw Largs lost to league leaders Beith, before going on to round off the season in style with convincing wins over Auchinleck Talbot and Rob Roy.

Will Sewell, who notched an impressive 25 goals this season, not only collected the top scorer award, but was supporters players of the year.  Sewell has made a big impact since his return from Scottish league side Stenhousemuir, and not only has he been a deadly marksman upfront, but has also weighed in with assists and helps make the team tick.

The player's player of the year went to defender Cory Hughes who was recognised in the West of Scotland team of the year in season 2022-23.

His defensive strengths have been very much to the fore, with Largs recording many clean sheets in the second half of the season.

Last year's player of the year Stuart Faulds featured in the 2023/24 official West of Scotland Premier League of the year.

A familiar face in 89-year-old veteran volunteer and supporter Tommy Scouller was recognised with the Archie Dickie award for his long service to the club going back many years.

It has also been another strong season for the Largs Thistle 2008s. Alex Renton won the top scorer award after a prolific year, and Aidan Hodge won a double with the player's player of the year and player of the season.

The under 16s side finished sixth in the league with 16 victories from 27 games and finished on a creditable 49 points, above Auchinleck Talbot and Troon.
