Largs Thistle midfielder Liam Lapsley is among a quartet of players to leave the Barrfields club this summer.

Lapsley has had a long term connection with Thistle have risen through the under 20 ranks, where he was skipper, and then leaving to play for Greenock Juniors, before re-signing at the start of last season.

Lapsley scored two goals in 17 appearances last season. He was a regular at the start of last season but received a long term knee injury after a collision in the away match at Pollok on August 16 2023, which kept him out of action for six months, and only returned in the 2-1 away victory at Arthurlie in mid-January.

Also departing is reserve keeper Eliasz Zalewski, and veteran defender John Tennent, who was on his second stint at Barrfields, after both provided cover last season. As reported last week, Scott Adam has made his farewell from the Barrfields club, having been striker for seven season and long serving skipper.

A club spokesperson said: "We wish all players well on the next steps in their footballing journeys."

Re-signings so far include Stuart Faulds, Laurie McMaster, William Sewell, Lewis Davidson, David Ramsay, Blair Devine, Cole Ojungu, John Cumming, Ryan McCreath, Sean McLeod, Jamie Martin, and Cory Hughes.

Largs will be looking to further improve on their record high league placement finish of fifth in the West of Scotland Premier League last season, including many memorable victories, against the likes of high-flyers Auchinleck Talbot, Clydebank and Darvel, while the club will also be looking to improve on their cup displays, having bowed out of all three cup competitions before Christmas,

The West of Scotland Premiership gets underway on July 27 with the following teams: Auchinleck Talbot, Beith, Benburb, Clydebank, Cumnock, Darvel, Drumchapel Gartcairn, Glenafton, Hurlford, Johnstone Burgh, Pollok, Shotts, St.Cadoc's, Troon.

The three teams who were promoted from Division One were title winners Drumchapel, runners-up Shotts Bon Accord, and third placed Johnstone Burgh.

Largs open their pre-season campaign against Broomhill at Barrfields on Saturday July 6, for a 2pm kick-off.

Next up, Thistle make the short journey up the A760 to neighbouring Kilbirnie Ladeside for the second Derek Scott Memorial Trophy fixture.

The match will be played at Valefield Park on Saturday, July 13, with a 2pm kick-off.

Last on the list for Largs, at least for the moment, is another home clash, this time against First Division Petershill, on Saturday, July 20 at 2pm.
