A first for me this week watching a game live at the Olympics 2024 in Paris.
It was Dominican Republic v Uzbekistan in the Parc de Princes, home of Paris Saint-German, with over 40,000 at the game. I turned up thinking there won’t be a big crowd, how wrong was I.
People from all countries out to see the game. It just shows you the universal pull of football.
The game finished 1-1. Not a great game to watch until VAR intervened by giving the Dominican Republic a penalty.
It was similar, if not softer, than the one Harry Kane got in the Euro’s. The Dominican Republic scored from it which made Uzbekistan go and look for a equaliser which they got. Until then it was a case of both teams not wanting to get beat.
A great spectacle and atmosphere as was the table tennis and beach volleyball which I got to watch too.

Two games for played by Largs Thistle this week, one win and one draw.
I thought the away win at Cumnock was a great result. Home draw against Hurlford not so good, but the positive is a clean sheet.
Clydebank are setting the pace at the top of the league with three wins from three and with ex Largs player Nicky Little setting his sights on being Clydebank's highest scorer of all time which is currently held by Ken Eadie they are looking good at this early stage.
That’s the “big” leagues started in Scotland again. Don’t see much changing in the Premiership and all the hassle that goes with that but the championship looks to be the league to watch. It looks like it’s going to be very competitive with all teams in with a chance of winning it or getting into a okay off position. I went to the Partick v Morton game on Saturday.
A 0-0 draw but the game could have went either way. It was good to see the kids playing at Bowencraig on Sunday, well done to the organisers , with a lot of good football on show.
The Largs Thistle 35’s sponsored by Cullis Amusements game against Whitletts Victoria was cancelled last week.
