Welcome to our new regular Inverclyde Sports Centre column. The all new inclusive centre is approaching its first anniversary in April, and is linking up with the new Largs Campus and also hosts a diverse range of community sport.

The aim of the column is to give you an idea of the different groups who are visiting the centre, and interesting events and activities taking place at the centre.

Inverclyde Sports Centre had a busy week at the centre, especially with guests from overseas.

Firstly, the centre welcomed the Romanian U20s rugby squad staying all week. They played Scotland U20s on Sunday and drew 10-10.

The national sports centre have also partnered with World Strides Excel Sports based in the USA to bring sports teams to Scotland for development and training at the centre. This week Inverclyde have young footballers from the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program and they have been venturing in to Largs town centre so you may see them around! They play Celtic Girls this week as part of their development training.

This week sees the start of the schools programme pick up so the centre will be busy with pupils from Inverkip Primary and Queen Margaret Academy as their residentials start again in earnest.

Easter camps are now able to be booked. Inverclyde have multi-sport camps running both weeks of the school holidays and a gymnastics camp running on the first week. Book now either at reception or download an application form from the website.

Schools Out! Transition days proved very popular last week as the primaries prepared for their move to the new Largs Campus. Inverclyde Sports Centre wish them all the best for moving in to their new school this week.

Inverclyde Principal Barry Fleeting said: "“Inverclyde is a pretty special place and always has been. We want everyone who visits to have a very positive sporting experience.”
