Thistle player boss Bryan Slavin has praised his players for fighting their corner at Scottish Cup holders Beith to gain a prized 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.

Bryan said although he was satisfied with the performance, it has to be tempered with the fact that it is another draw in the Ardagh Cup campaign, and has urged his players to push on for victory against Dalry on Saturday, 2pm kick-off at Barrfields.

And Bryan was in among the goals as he scored to put Largs 2-1 up on Wednesday evening after playing in a surprise striker role.

Bryan said: "I should have scored in the first ten minutes but the opportunity came far too early and I was not as up to speed. If it had fallen to Robert Love in that situation, it would have been a goal.

"With Kevin Struthers on his way back from injury, I suppose I am another option upfront but given I am pushing 39, it doesn't disguise the fact that we still need to bring in another striker to the pool."

Bryan said he was happy with the display given the difficult circumstances with Largs only having eleven players, and only one sub, who was keeper Sean Graham.

"I did give the boys plaudits for their resolve and commitment on the night.

"We need to keep pushing a bit further until we get victories, but matches like last night are all part of the learning process, and I am confident we will get there."
