Cumbrae residents are set to stage a ‘Rally for Democracy’ on the island next month in protest at the decision to appeal the rejection of a solar farm on the island.

Comsol Energy have appealed to the Scottish Government after North Ayrshire Council’s planning committee rejected plans for the facility at the top of the island earlier this year.

The rally, organised by Cumbrae Community Council, will take place on Saturday September 16, with islanders invited to meet at Newton Beach at 10am and walk up to the Glaidstone for 11am.

Buses will be provided by Millport Motors for those who do not want to walk, with times and pick up points to follow.
