The Largs Wheelers are heading on a tour of the UK on a special mission `Le Jog 2007` to raise funds for Gillian's Saltire Appeal.

Willie McNeil, George Whitestone, John Campbell, Colin Grant, Neil Laing, and Iain Currie - the Largs Wheelers - are all cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats.

The guys will be travelling through Largs as part of their challenge and are not expected to return home until the end of the month.

Willie said: `We have been out training quite hard for it on Arran, and trying to clock around 100 miles. Some of us have tents and accommodation planned for the trip. The tour is from Lands End up past Newquay to Taunton and then heading to Bath and up to Stroud and Bromyard, Shrewsbury, and the Lake District in the opening stages of their schedule. They plan to arrive in Largs on day 9.

The guys were all leaving by train complete with their bikes on Thursday morning as the headed to the south of England to begin the first stage of their tour on Thursday evening weather permitting.
