The Garrison building on the Isle of Cumbrae is gearing up for a busy festive period.

On Saturday 5 December, the Xmas Fayre takes place from 11am to 4pm, showcasing local crafts, Santa’s Grotto, cafe and lots more!

The date also heralds the launch of the Millport Art Group gallery in the Garrison library, and the theme this year is 'Facing Up' - portraits of group members and other artwork on this theme.

On Thursday 17 December, the Garrison Café Xmas Lunch is served between 12 and 3pm. They will be joined during the afternoon by pupils of Cumbrae Primary School who will be entertaining parents, friends and café customers with a selection of Christmas carols and songs. To book please contact Jan on 01475 531381 or call into Garrison Café or speak with one of the staff.

Also well worth a visit at the Garrison is the Museum of The Cumbraes which provides a fascinating glimpse into Cumbrae's past. From 4,000 year-old stone coffins – or ‘cists’ – found on the Cumbraes, through stories of smuggling in the 18th century to life during the second world war and indeed life on the island today.
