A Double Celebration
On Sunday 7 February, two lovely occasions were held by local lady Laura Patrick and her fiance, Robert Pringle, and their families and friends.
In the morning the couple and their guests attended Cumbrae Parish Church's service in the Age Concern Hall where their baby son Ethan William was christened by the interim minister Sandy McCallum.
Ethan's godparents were Laura's sister Louise Patrick, her cousin Jane Forrest, her brother David Patrick, and friend Ross Armstrong.
After the christening everyone adjourned to The Newton lounge, where the 2nd wonderful event took place - a surprise wedding!
Laura and Robert who is the chef at The Ritz Cafe tied the knot in front of their guests.
Mother of the bride, Lesley McDowall, gave Laura away, and she was attended by bridesmaids, best friend Angela Healy, Emily Paton (Robert's daughter), and her little daughter Caitlin was a flower girl. David Patrick was Robert's best man.
The wedding was delayed by two hours because the ferries were off but despite this the registrar managed to get to the island for the service.
All the wedding party and guests had dinner before the ceremony, and despite the weather, the wedding eventually went ahead. This was then followed by the wedding reception. Congratulations to Laura and Robert.
