A freedom of information request has revealed that there are nine sex offenders under monitoring conditions staying in Largs and Millport at present.
The information request was made earlier this month and revealed the amount of offenders living in specific towns in North Ayrshire.
The breakdown of the figures show that there are six sex offenders under monitoring conditions staying in Largs, and three on the Isle of Cumbrae.
All the information provided has been drawn from the Violent and Sex Offender Register database.
In response to the request, Police Scotland stated: "Protecting the public is a top priority for Police Scotland.
In Scotland Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements, provides a comprehensive response to a complex issue, using professional assessment and management to properly target resources at those who pose a risk to the public.
Police Scotland works in partnership with a number of agencies to ensure that all Registered Sex Offenders are robustly managed within the community. While we can never eliminate risk entirely, we want to reassure communities that all reasonable steps are being taken to protect them."
According to the request, Irvine has the most number of sex offenders under monitoring conditions at 46, Kilwinning has 14, Saltcoats has 11, Ardrossan 10, and Stevenston 9. Other towns in the North Ayrshire area - Fairlie, West Kilbride and Skelmorlie, did not feature in the request, and their statistics are unknown at the current time.
