Julie Sharman is Cumbrae Primary School's new acting head teacher and says she is looking forward to working with all children, their families and the local community.

Lynne Cathcart is the Millport schools new Principal Teacher and will teach P6/7.

Here are some other notes from the school this week.

Early Years Class - The class have been learning about water. We have been doing experiments using ice, jelly and bubbles. During the recent good weather we have taken our session outdoors with boat building for the water tray; mini beast hunts and den building.

P1/2 - In P 1/2 we have been learning about living and non-living things. We have also been finding out about pirates, and welcomed pupils from Lawthorn Primary into our classroom to see our pirate ship! We enjoyed walking to the West Bay to see the cannon.

P3/4 - In P3/4 We have been learning about ancient Egypt. We have looked at the arid landscape and are going to create a Shadoof just like the ancient Egyptians used to irrigate their farmland.

P6/5 - In P6/5 we have been enjoying science this week. We have been learning about chemical changes and chemical reactions. We have really loved the fun experiments. P5 have also been enjoying their swimming lessons at Vikingar!

P6/7 - In P6/7 we have been exploring the UN Convention on the Rights of the child and comparing our rights to the children in other countries. We have also enjoyed taking part in music on a Thursday. Well done to Yuri, Rory and Luke for performing at assembly!
