Millport volunteers walked the walk for a special annual charity event on Sunday for Cancer Research.

Pictured are the organisers Margaret, Elsie, Cissy, Marina, Christine, and Rowan Main, the Cancer Research fundraiser for South West Scotland. A total of 50 people took part in the charity walk.

Participants left the pier to a rousing send off from Millport's 'Grumpy Old Pipers' before heading to Farland Gate, and returning to the Age Concern Hall. The weather was wonderful, and the atmosphere during the walk was something special.

Organiser Christine McCubbin was delighted. She said: "Walk the Walk for Cancer Research last Sunday raised £442. Thanks to everyone who walked and donated. A special thanks to Margaret and Bill of Fintry Bay Cafe for the scones, cream, jam etc and thanks also to Margaret, Elsie, Cissie and John for all their hard work in Age Concern Hall. The cans in the shops raised a further £173, the retiring offering from James Wallace's funeral was £185 and a generous donation of £200 meant that a cheque for £1000 has been sent to Cancer Research. Well done Millport!"
