Largs Gymnastics Club held their annual gymnastics 'Floor and Vault' event and had a very successful day, scooping home medals and rosettes.

Called the West of Scotland Open it attracted over 350 competitors for across Scotland and was a great success.

In the 6/7 years age group Kate Hay came 2nd, Erin Graham came 3rd, Erin McTaggart came 4th and the team won Gold along with team mates Kristina Kowolski and Amy Campbell. A great achievement for these young gymnasts.

In the 8/9 years age group Emily Shearer got the Gold and Eva Aitken the Silver, Abbie Rankin came 4th, Rebecca Steele came 5th, Olivia McEwan came 6th, Eva Coggins came 7th, Isla Shaw came 8th and Skye Arthur came 9th, virtually a clean seep for these girls. In the team event for this age group Largs team of Eva, Isla, Rebecca, Olivia and Emily took the Gold with team B of Isla Shearer, Eva Coggins and Claudia took the Bronze. A fabulous result for all.

The 8/9 years intermediate group saw Madison Marner come 3rd and Zoe McFadden come 5th. Great results again.

In the 10/11 years intermediate completion Honor McLean came 1st and the gold with Eve McPake getting the 9th place rosette in the 10/11 years group.

There are also boys who compete in Floor and Vault competitions and again the Largs lads took home medals and rosettes.

In the 8/9 years Jack Lafferty came 1st, Aaron Convery came 3rd, James McGregor came 5th, Callum McDougall 6th, Daniel Convery 8th and Jay Youden 10th. Well done for another virtual clean sweep.

The boys 6/7 age group saw Connor Taylor 1st, Samuel Barr 2nd and Logan Coyle 3rd.

Largs Gymnastics Club gymnasts had more success on Sunday 12th June with the seven Largs lads competing in Grades competitions in Perth and 1 Largs lady competing in Ipswich.

The boys had great success competing in their regional grades, Grade 2 saw Keiran Walker compete and Rob Russell got the gold and the highest vault score for all grades. Grade 3 was Kia Chalmers with the highest p-bar scores across all grades and Phillip Hinchcliffe. Grade 4 saw Grant Arneil win Gold and for grade 5 Aladair Peacock took the Bronze. Also, in the elite grade 3 saw Robbie Young competing.

Largs lady Anna Hollins competed in British Compulsory 1 with only 16 gymnasts from the whole country competing and achieved a fantastic 4th in Britain.
