Talented Alice Boyle's new art exhibition in Edinburgh received a celebrity endorsement during the Edinburgh Festival.

Alice of Kelburn Castle was amazed when one of the stars of BBC2 Comedy 'Mock the Week' popped in for a look around her gallery.

She said: "I was thrilled when Russell Howard came into the Gallery. He said it was the paintings in the window that attracted him in. The painting behind is his favourite. Who is Russell Howard, you say? He is on 'Mock the Week' and does, 'Russell Howard's Good News' amongst other things. You can be just like him and come in to the gallery too!"

The exhibition, which is running in 2 Howe Street during the Edinburgh Festival is entitled "We're all imperfect circles", and has proved popular so far.

Alice said: "I have had a brilliant response so far, and there has been a lot of interest in the exhibition which is great."

Inspired by the power of dreams, mythology and the collective unconscious, Alice has used textures, vivid colours, shapes and symbols to stimulate the senses, both consciously and subconsciously."

Alice, who is the daughter of Lord Glasgow, added: “My artwork is about the journey of learning about the spirit of the world and ourselves. I want people to feel there is a joy and playfulness within my work and that comes from living in the moment and enjoying the process”.

The exhibition continues until Sunday 14 August, and is open for viewing between 10am and 7pm. Alice will be in the gallery throughout, and is urging people from the Largs area to pop in and say hello!
