The Vikings were defeated once more in a Largs battle over the new primary school name.
The new amalgamated Brisbane Primary and Kelburn Primary, based at the new Largs Campus, will be called Largs Primary School.
One of the names suggested - Valhalla - was being considered, but had proved unpopular, with many criticising the potential name on the Largs and Millport Facebook page.
Elected members – who were given six to choose from - confirmed the name at a Cabinet meeting this week.
The decision follows a thorough process which started with the Head Teacher and staff engaging with pupils and parents to consider a name for the new school.
They were asked to consider local landmarks, famous people and historical events before a family homework challenge was issued at both schools asking pupils and parents to suggest names and to outline the reasons for their choice.
Once all suggestions were collated, an online survey was carried out to allow all children, parents and staff to choose their two favourite names.
And from the shortlist of six - Largs Primary School, Valhalla Primary School, Alexander Primary School,Thistle Primary School, Kelvin Primary School and Brisburn Primary School – Councillors agreed on Largs Primary after hearing from pupils and staff during Tuesday’s meeting.
