A Largs primary schoolgirl has been chosen as Snow White's prize pupil.

Among scores of entries of art work for the front cover of the Largs Players pantomime programme for next week the winner emerged as Beth Forrest of P7 at Kelburn School.

Beth's colourful impression of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs will adorn the front page of the programme for next week's shows at Barrfields Pavilion Theatre.

Largs Players are giving a star debut to their choice as leading lady. Student Rebecca Kane, who looks the part, has been handed the role of Snow White in a new, very funny script, written and directed by young producer Ruairidh Forde. It will be Rebecca's first performance on the Barrfields stage but she is set to wow the audience with her singing and acting.

She will be supported by not one, but 14 members of the Youth Theatre, who have been selected to be the Dwarfs - that's two lots of seven in case you are confused - at Barrfields Theatre from Thursday to Saturday, December 8-10.

Also in the talented cast are Matt Wilkin as The Prince, Pat Nicol as the Wicked Queen, Jon Wilkin as The Mirror and, in a twist, experienced female actress Jackie Templeton will be the Dame. There is also one of the biggest panto choruses in the country, tutored by Ruairidh, who also choreographs, and musical director David Edwards. Matt Carnegie is guaranteed to have the kids laughing as hilarious Hamish, son of the Castle Cook. He will also be vying for the attentions of Snow White herself.

Tickets are available on www.ticketsource.co.uk/Largs Players or on the hotline of 0333 666 3366. As an added bonus there are actually two Saturday matinees...at 1.30pm and 6.30pm to suit folk from Cumbrae and afar!
