More wildlife warnings are necessary on the A78 coastal road between Largs and Skelmorlie.
That is the feeling of local correspondent Alison Masterson in relation to the problem of dead otters as reported in last week's 'News'.
Roads maintenance company Transerv, who were contacted by an otter welfare organisation, could look into measures to mitigat the problem, depending on further evidence.
Alison said: "As well as otter awareness signs, you need deer warning signage on the A78 between Skelmorlie and Largs."
On Facebook, Graham Green said: "There have always been otters in the Largs area to the north, anywhere from the end of the '12 Apostles' up to the old Manor Park Hotel;. There was a large otter killed last year at the Castle gates."
And in some good news, a female otter and cub were spotted on the Isle of Cumbrae on Tuesday, according to local wildlife sources.
