After recent problems in local parks, Largs Community Council have said that they welcome suggestions of solutions for activities for youths in the local area.
The community council looked at the broader issue of whether there was a lack of facilities for children in the area.
Margaret said: “Young people have nowhere to go and nothing to do. The teenage cafe is currently closed, and unless you are a member of a theatrical group, there isn’t much to do.”
Younger members of Largs Community Council were asked for their view, and Academy pupil Joanna Stewart said: “The issue was raised at a joint cabinet meeting at Largs Academy and people did raise the issue that there weren’t attractions for people, although there are funded groups in the area. It comes down to the Guides and the BBs, but other than that, it was felt that there wasn’t much else for them to do.”
Community councillor Patricia Perman stated that in the summer, Largs offers tennis, rollerblading and swimming, and said she would urge people to contact Largs Community Council with youth activity ideas.
