New St John’s and Cumbrae church minister Jonathan Fleming has been ‘overwhelmed’ by the love and support given from the community upon his arrival.
There was a great turn out at St John’s Church in Largs last Friday for the induction of the new minister.
Jonathan said: “A huge thank you to everyone who made Friday night such a special time. St. John’s was almost full of people and song as I was inducted into the linked charge of Cumbrae linked with Largs: St John’s. Massive thanks go to the two bus loads of Erskine Parish Church for coming down to support our family in this new leg of our journey. It meant a lot.
“We are overwhelmed by the amount of love and support everyone has given us since moving down here.
“As a family, we are also tremendously grateful for the very generous welcome gift we received following blessings from our sister church - St John’s in Katalonje and Josephine MateKole in Ghana.
“I am looking forward to what lies ahead in our journey with Cumbrae and St John’s!”
Jonathan is married to Karyn, and they have two young daughters, Rachel, and Hollie.
Having served as minister of Erskine Parish Church since 2012, Jonathan was voted 2015 Citizen of the Year for his outstanding community work.
The 35 year old said the calling to the North Coast and Cumbrae area was strong, and is looking forward to the new opportunity.
At Friday’s service, there were welcome speeches from the wider Christian community by Rev David Watson of Clark Memorial Church, and Largs Churches Together by chairman Mr John Lewis.
