Cal Mac have informed customers to leave earlier than planned if they wish to avoid getting stuck in a queue leaving the island of Cumbrae.
The ferry company have just tweeted shortly after 9am on Monday: "Due to the exceptional volume of traffic shipped over the weekend, we advise customers to depart Cumbrae at their earliest convenience to avoid extensive queues."
Ferries were running until 9.30pm on Sunday evening due to the extensive traffic on the island with report of regular queues beyond the Watersports Centre.
There was also extensive parking in Millport with the influx of vehicles, while there have been reports of long queues in Largs going as far as Mackerston Place.
At 2.15pm, Cal Mac tweeted: "Due to the exceptional volume of traffic shipped over the weekend, we advise customers to dep Cumbrae at their earliest convenience to avoid extensive queues. There is a delay of approximately one hour at Largs and well in excess of two hours return at Cumbrae."
