LARGS Bowling Club has been giving coaching to the three classes of P7 pupils at the new Largs Primary School.

Just before the schools broke up for the summer, a group of 68 pupils participated in a Commonwealth Games challenge for a trophy provided by the club.

The classes chose a Commonwealth country they would represent, with P7C choosing Pakistan, P7T Jamaica and P7A Uganda.

After a hard-fought competition, Pakistan won the bowls and Jamaica the target bowls, with Pakistan winning the overall competition on points to receive the trophy from club president Ray Young and Lady President Margaret Reat.

Mr Young said: “From the feedback we have received from the school, the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the competition and it was certainly played in a fair and sporting fashion which was a credit to the school and pupils.

"I would thank the club coaches and helpers for their commitment to this outreach project and to the ladies who prepared lunch for those involved, along with the Fruit Shop in Tron Place for subsidising the provision of fruit.”
