From this weekend Morrisons Supermarket in Largs will launch Quieter Hour, where we create a calmer shopping environment between 9am and 10am every Saturday.
The purpose is to make the Irvine Street premises more accessible for autistic customers and their families.
Morrison's Community champion Suki McGregor said: "We have looked at ways our stores can be more accessible for people with enhanced needs. Having listened to feedback from both customers, colleagues, and the
National Autistic Society, we have developed ‘Quieter Hour’ for our stores.
"Quieter Hour is where we will commit to adapting our stores to make them quieter and more accessible for our customers, with reduced replenishment activity (for example not working cages on the shop floor) to removing
excessive noises (for example no tannoy announcements and the in store radio turned off).
"We want to be able to promote a quieter and calmer environment for our customers to complete their shopping."
