A LARGS mum says her son inspired her to shed the pounds and drop a dramatic three dress sizes in just seven months.

Lauren Beckwith, 28, joined a local weightloss group after struggling to keep up with her toddler Harris when he found his feet.

She has now lost an impressive 3st and 4lbs since joining Slimming World in January, dropping to a size 14.

Lauren said: “When my son was running all over the place, in my head I thought ‘this isn’t good enough - I need to lose weight'.

“He was all the motivation I needed.

"I am so buzzing to have lost the weight in such a short period of time.

“I had tried fad diets and quick fixes before but when I started Slimming World I realised it was a realistic way of staying healthy, it was a diet I could actually live on.

“I had to make the changes for Harris, I would have hated for him to have seen me living my previous lifestyle, to see him growing up like that would have killed me."

Lauren is now revelling in her healthy lifestyle.

She said: “I am more active with my son, we are out most days and do healthy activities which I would have struggled with before losing weight.

“I still want to lose another stone, but I am so chuffed with the progress I have already made.

“I can still enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals with my family while losing weight, nowadays I probably eat more than ever.

“I pick up new ideas and recipes every week, and my group is a great way to meet friends who are on the same journey. "

Lauren says she fills up on healthy, satisfying foods like fruit and veg, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat and fish and ensures she exercises regularly, taking at least 10,000 steps a day.

Heather Stewart, who runs Lauren's class, said: "She is a complete inspiration to our group and I hope she inspires other people in Largs too."
