Skelmorlie Golf Club has issued a warning over dogs on its course after a member was nearly bitten by one of the animals.

The club's committee took to social media to share the incident, and have asked those walking their dogs on the course to put them on a lead if possible and asked by a golfer.

A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately we have had an incident this week where one of our members was nearly bitten by a dog whilst playing golf.

"In addition to this, there are a number of people letting their dogs off the lead whilst on the course.

"Whilst we're happy for people to walk their dogs on the course, if a golder asks you to put your dog on a lead please do so.

"Golf courses can be dangerous places to walk so keeping your dog secure on a lead is the safest way to ensure its safety."
