A new business coming to Fairlie has revealed it is still on course to open next month after having to overcome flooding problems.

Daniel McKinnon snapped up the opportunity to take over the former Shun Tin Chinese takeaway in the village after previous plans to open a pharmacy at the premises fell through.

Daniel, who owns The Shore Shack in Skelmorlie, plans to have the new takeaway open for business in early February.

The premises - which will be called Grill'd - have been undergoing extensive refurbishment work.

The Grill'd Facebook page contained the following update: "The renovations for the shop are 95% complete.

"A lot of hours have went into this despite any setbacks with floods.

"The sign is still to go up. Menus will be available end of this week."

Grill'd will be open for collections and takeaway, providing deliveries to Fairlie, Largs and West Kilbride.

Customers will be able to pick up fresh street food between Wednesday and Sunday, from 4pm to 10pm.

Daniel told the News: "There will be a char grill in the new Fairlie takeaway so you will be able to get chargrilled burgers, and we have a very good chef lined up and kitchen team coming too.

"The premises will look very modern and fresh, and I can't wait for the big opening."
