A POPULAR takeaway on the Largs seafront is on course to reopen to customers later this week - after undergoing an environmentally-friendly refit.

The Fish Works is currently closed to allow for the installation of a new frying range.

The company which installed the new equipment, KFE, says that as well as increasing capacity, the new equipment will also cut the business's carbon footprint.

A KFE spokesperson said: "The upgrade gives the takeaway two extra pans, offering much needed extra capacity for the busy summer months, as well as more efficiency due to the layout now encompassing 3x2 chip baskets as opposed to 2x3 chip baskets.

"All this while also reducing their carbon footprint."

And The Fish Works have also confirmed that their new arrival has been fitted ahead of re-opening on Friday, February 9.

A spokesperson said in a social media post: "It's in! Just got to get it all connected up...see you all on Friday."
