POLICE Scotland have clarified the opening hours of the police station in Largs after being quizzed at a public meeting.

A member of the public asked at Fairlie Community Council's most recent meeting for clarity on the opening hours of the station, located at the Brooksby Medical Centre on Brisbane Road.

On being asked whether the police office was open and staffed 24 hours a day, Sergeant Donald Fisher said: "No. It is open to the public during operational times of the doctor’s surgery.

"There is a 24/7 local cover but, out of hours, the office may be temporarily unmanned if the officers are out on a call.

"The buzzer outside the office connects to 101, so it’s advised to use the phone to contact police out of hours."

The doctor’s surgery is open from 8am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The police station moved to Brooksby in 2021 after having operated in School Street for many years.
