The Virtual Dementia Bus is coming back to Largs and district, giving members of the public a chance to gain a better understanding of the condition,
Following a very successful visit in September 2023, the bus is returning to the area for four days in June.
It's also hoped that its visit will improve practice around dementia support for carers and members of the public.
This worldwide scientifically and medically proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain the experience of what dementia may be like.
Invented by Professor P.K. Beville in the United States 25 years ago, the virtual dementia tour has been proven during research produced by Ulster University to change practice within 95 per cent of delegates, improve knowledge in 97 per cent of delegates and improve outcomes for 100 per cent of clients.
Dementia Friendly Largs has secured funding from Locality Participatory Budgeting and UK Shared Prosperity Fund 2023/2024, and the group is therefore able to offer training free, to local businesses, care staff, paramedics, fire brigade, first responders, community workers and family members.
